Still in Nyack

I am sitting in Tascha, a Turkish coffee shop in lovely downtown Nyack, NY, and I am getting just a tiny taste of home via a chocolate croissant. I am ultimately attempting to create a blog to write about my experience, but I become easily overwhelmed when I think about what to write, how to write it and how to get my thoughts across. It seems like years since I have taken an English course, and it has been.  I am often intimidated by other people's blogs, eloquence and wit. I want to be able to describe my expierences with accuracy and in fullness. So this is where I will be making those attempts.

Nyack, is probably one of my favorite places. The mix of cultures, faiths, economic statuses, race and beliefs is amazing. In my third culture kid ignorance, I often thought of America as a culture-less place. However, I am learning more and more that it quite the opposite. I love sitting in shops here and watching all kinds of people walk by, run by, and bike by. People often ask me why I am a Cross-Cultural Studies major if I grew up overseas. I am because there is always more to learn about culture and there always will be.

I am going to miss it here in Nyack, especially as the season changes to fall. It is so beautiful here, especially at the school when the leaves are changing and the river is frigid.  But I am excited for the changes about to happen in my own life.
